Private Events
John’s Grill is happy to host private events for parties small or large. The restaurant has three different settings for private parties, all on the third level and accessible by stairs or elevator. The third level space is called Hammett’s Den, named for the mystery author who, in his San Francisco heyday, had an office in the nearby Flood Building and used to frequent John’s Grill.

The Club Room
Perfect for an intimate dining experience for groups up to 20. The Club Room can be set up with one long table of 14 people or 2 round tables of 10 each.

Astor Room
The Astor Room is the perfect space for parties between 50-60 people. The room has a rich décor of dark Oak panels and a large window that overlooks Ellis Street, which allows the natural light to shine through. The room is separated from the main dining room with glass accordion doors, which overlooks the dining room. It accommodates 50 people seated or 60 people for a cocktail reception.

Hammett’s Den
Hammett’s Den, our largest private room, encompasses the entire third floor, with coffered ceiling and a wall of windows. This room also has a private bar. It can be reserved for up 100-seated guests or 180 guests at a standing reception.
